Recruitment Officer

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions:

  • Recruit and process traditional and non-traditional prospective students;
  • Actively recruit students from the Douglas County high schools;
  • Develop a rapport that permits the Recruiter to promote UCC instructional offerings and recruit through community organizations, e.g. National Guard, DHS, Div. of Vocational Rehab., Employment Office, VA hospital, etc.;
  • Present a professional and collegiate image while providing courteous and accurate service to all inquiries, customers, and community organizations;
  • Engage the faculty, Division Chairs, and other employees in the recruitment process;
  • Working with the Division Chairs, develop individualized recruitment strategies for specific instructional programs;
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and effective recruitment plan;
  • Lead out in the collaboration of Community Relations and Instructional Chairs in the development and disbursement of marketing information for instructional programs;
  • Answer core questions from prospects, students, parents and others concerning Umpqua Community College and the surrounding area;
  • Create, track and maintain recruitment files in Banner and use the database to correspond with prospects;
  • Partner with Community Relations to utilize special events (fairs and festivals) for recruitment;
  • Assist Student Development departments with testing, advising, registration and financial aid activities in the schools and community;
  • Make correct referrals to other departments when necessary;
  • Work closely with Community Relations in the design and development of recruiting materials, e.g. Viewbook, webpage, brochures, etc.;
  • Prepare and present workshops to prospects, parents, and other community groups;
  • Establish a recruitment liaison with SBDC, JOBS, Community Education, and Workforce Development;
  • Give campus tours and assist at orientations;
  • Hire and oversee the work of the student ambassadors;
  • Serve as a member of UCC committees as appropriate;
  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, e.g. marketing, public relations, communications;
  • Strong customer service experience;
  • Effective leadership and management skills;
  • Successful experience working with a diverse population;
  • Experience in post-secondary recruitment, marketing and/or public relations;
  • Computer skills, Internet knowledgeable, Web page development, Database, Word-processing and student management software experience (SCT Banner);
  • Previous experience developing, implementing & evaluating automated tracking systems;
  • Experience in the development of marketing and communication plans relevant to recruitment.

    SALARY:$29,422 per year, Full-Time Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 28, Step 1
