Developmental Education Writing Instructor

Responsible to:  Dean of Academic Development

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Meets each assigned class with punctuality and enthusiasm
  • Implement class activities that promote maximum learning
  • Cover usual course content as described in the approved course outline and syllabus and provide sufficient exposure to the material so that students will satisfactorily proceed to the next course in the sequence and/or courses in the program
  • Conduct class during the time and in the room provided on the regular college schedule; deviation from this should be approved by the Dean
  • Submit reports as requested including class rosters, grade reports, grade books, text book requests, inventories, final examinations
  • Carry out college policies in all aspects that relate to the position
  • Maintain schedule of one office hour a week to assist students per 3 credit class. Office hours will be posted by office door and approved by Dean
  • Assist with data collection, reports and budgeting of grant

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in appropriate discipline preferred. Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline required.
  • Teaching experience in adult literacy required. Evaluation of this criterion will be based on: demonstrated ability in implementing innovative teaching methods and curriculum development, teaching experience and professional activities in the field of developmental education, letters of recommendation.

    SALARY:
    $478 per credit, 2008-09 Part-Time Instructor Salary Schedule, Base
