ABSD Outreach Instructor -- Tri City

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Outreach instructors teach at Tri City.
  • Responsible for teaching the five GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science and math) through individual, small and large group instruction.
  • Instruct high school credit recovery students individually or in small groups.
  • Develop relevant and practical class lessons with a focus in reading skills, writing, math, and science.
  • Assist skill review students to prepare for entry to college.
  • Administer benchmark tests to determine individual progress in reading, math and writing.
  • Track student progress and attendance.
  • Administer Title II Assessments and learn CASAS Accountability system.
  • Build confidence and self-esteem in students through successful completion of tasks.
  • Administer practice tests to monitor progress and prepare student for actual tests
  • Obtain accommodations for students with learning disabilities through UCC staff.
  • Help students work out solutions to barriers to GED testing & transitioning to college.
  • Maintain a cooperative, professional attitude with fellow staff members and students.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of program goals and activities.
  • Responsible for effective classroom management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the dean or coordinator

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Teaching experience in Adult Basic Education preferred

    SALARY:
    $21.63 per hour, 2008-09 Part-Time Instructor Salary Schedule, Base
