EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Responsible for teaching the five GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science and math) through individual, small and large group instruction.
Develop relevant and practical class lessons with a focus in reading skills, writing, math and science.
Assess skill review students to prepare for entry to college.
Administer benchmark tests to determine individual progress in reading, math and writing.
Track student progress and attendance.
Administer Title II Assessments and learn CASAS Accountability system.
Build confidence and self-esteem in students through successful completion of tasks.
Administer practice tests to monitor progress and prepare student for actual tests.
Obtain accommodations for students with learning disabilities through UCC staff.
Help students work out solutions to barriers to GED testing & transitioning to college.
Maintain a cooperative, professional attitude with fellow staff members and students.
Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of program goals activities.
Responsible for effective classroom management.
Perform other duties as assigned by the dean or coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required.
Teaching experience in Adult Basic Education preferred
SALARY:
$21.63 per hour, 8-12 hrs/wk 2008-09 Part-Time Instructor Salary Schedule, Base
