EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Coordinate and observe instruction program-wide to insure quality of instruction, uniformity of objectives, and appropriateness of education plans, including instruction techniques and materials
Develop class schedules and instructor assignments
Design and develop curriculum with instructors
Assist with hiring and supervising of instructional staff
Act as liaison with public school administrators and counselors, Department of Human Services, Employment Division, Head Start, Umpqua Training and Employment, Douglas County Corrections, and other community college ABSD programs
Analyze performance of outreach sites, write reports, make recommendations for improvement
Evaluate and implement opportunities for new outreach sites
Implement, update and monitor Title II, State-approved local plans for AHSD and GED.
Insure students graduating with high school diplomas have met new HSD requirements.
Prepare instructor contracts and monitor time sheets for non-contract staff.
Act as ABSD contact for Banner issues, including monitoring grade input and registration issues and developing the new system to monitor high school diploma tracking with the Registrar.
Maintain substitute list and make arrangements for instructor absences.
Work with students in independent study materials and life/work experience requests.
Assist with review of online high school classes and student coursework, as needed.
Develop and distribute informational materials and implement recruitment plan.
Track student progress/retention.
Register ABE/GED/AHSD students in outreach areas & issue their grades.
Assist in the monitoring and enforcing student attendance, performances and behavior.
Assist with GED/AHSD graduations.
Prepare and conduct staff development activities.
Facilitate departmental activities (i.e., textbook requests, catalog and course revisions).
Perform other duties as assigned by Dean
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
Successful experience in the following areas:
o Writing curriculum, course outlines, and program descriptions.
o Alternative Education and/or Adult Education.
o Supervision of staff.
SALARY:
$35,847 per year, Full-Time Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 36, Step 1
