Winchester— Students of Shakespeare can enhance their classwork with an extraordinary field experience at Oregon’s Shakespeare Festival through Umpqua Community College and earn English credits. The course starts with two three-hour classes on September 15 and 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UCC. Then, Wednesday, September 17 through Friday, September 19, students spend three days at the festival in Ashland, one of the best Shakespearean festivals in the world. To register, choose either English 105 (Introduction to Literature) or English 201(Shakespeare). The cost of the class includes: tickets $250, tuition $207, and registration fee. The Ashland trip includes a Backstage Tour, and five plays: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Our Town, Coriolanus and Comedy of Errors. Students must provide for their own transportation and make their own accommodations while in Ashland. Class limited to 15.
