Mathematics (Transfer)
Program Description
Umpqua Community College offers an Associate of Science in Mathematics for students who plan to transfer to a 4-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Courses are also offered to help students prepare to teach mathematics at the elementary or high school level
For students enrolled in other programs and majors, UCC's Math Department offers both transfer and nontransfer courses. These courses are designed to give the student experience using math skills to solve problems, as well as basic skills practice. Courses for professional-technical students have been designed with input from other departments.
UCC also offers developmental courses for students with limited mathematical backgrounds or who are returning to school.

How do I know what math course is best for me?
Placement tests are designed to help place a student into the proper course that fits with the student's math background. These tests are offered through the counseling center. Students are also encouraged to meet with a math faculty member if they feel the placement test has not placed them in the proper course.
In order to meet the math requirements for any program, all students should consult with their program advisors.
