New Student Orientation
Welcome to Umpqua Community College!
Our new student orientation (NSO) covers campus resources, student code of conduct, accessing a student's Riverhawk account for registration, transcripts, grades and financial aid. Upon completion, you will receive a UCC student ID, parking pass and have a chance to tour campus while your here. NSO is a registration enforced pre-requisite at Umpqua Community College. All newly admitted degree seeking students are required to complete New Student Orientation (NSO) at UCC. Returning students who have not completed NSO as of Summer of 2009 will also be required to do so.
Getting Started
Once you have submitted your UCC application for admission, paid your one time $25 admission fee and completed your compass placement test, you are ready to register for NSO! See our upcoming dates below.

How long does New Student Orientation last?
Do I have to stay the entire time?

Is New Student Orientation mandatory?
Check-in for sessions held Monday - Friday is at the Advising & Career Service Center in the Campus Center Building. Check-in for Saturday sessions will be given by phone at the time of reservation. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of NSO. Late arrivals will be rescheduled for the next available open session.
How long does New Student Orientation last?
Approximately four hours.
Do I have to stay the entire time?
Yes. New Student Orientation is MANDATORY. It is important that you participate in all the New Student Orientation activities as the program has been designed to help prepare you for your first term as a student at UCC. If you have to leave early, you will be rescheduled to attend the next availalbe open session.
You may park in any of the white painted parking space on campus. However, 30 minute parking spaces are strictly enforced for 30 minute parking. At NSO, students may register for a student parking sticker for the upcoming academic year.
Where can I purchase food or drinks?
During regular hours of operation for the college, the Cafeteria and Bookstore will be open for purchases. Unfortunatelly, they are closed on Saturday/Sunday.
I’m not able to attend the session I signed up for – can I attend a different session?
Space is limited and sessions fill up quickly. We encourage students to keep their reserved spot. If you need to cancel, you will be placed in the next availalbe open session. Please call 440-4610 to reschedule.
Is New Student Orientation mandatory?
Yes. In order to register for credit classes, you must complete New Student Orientation at Umpqua Community College.
