INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE
In conjunction with the Oregon Musical Theatre Festival, the UCC Fine and Performing Arts Department is offering a unique summer course, INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE. This 3-week, 3-credit course is an overview of theatre history, dramatic literature, and theatre production, using the OMTF musicals Cinderella, The Fantasticks, and the Last Five Years as its focus. With an emphasis on live performance, this class will provide a fresh, exciting look at theatre as an art and its role in American culture. The course will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from July 14-30, 5-8 pm. in Snyder Hall Room 10. For more information, contact Kathleen Walton at 440-4644. SONG WRITING FOR THE STAGE
SONG WRITING FOR THE STAGE is an evening workshop for that will discuss song writing techniques for musical theatre. This course will include an historical overview of the Broadway musical, with discussions and exercises related to the craft of lyric writing and composition. Adult Basic Skills Summer Classes

Credit Recovery Classes

UCC’s Adult Basic Skills Division offers a full summer schedule of high school credit recovery class options.  Classes at the Woolley Center are teacher-led and run in 4-week sessions.  The cost is $25 per ½ credit, and students must sign up at the Woolley Center, 1634. W. Harvard.  For more information, please call 440-4603.

Students may also choose to recover high school credit through over 20 online classes.  These classes are $50 per ½ credit, and students must call the online coordinator at 440-7805 to sign up or for more information.

GED Classes
Umpqua Community College offers Roseburg summer GED classes that cover the material needed to pass the five sections of the GED test:  writing, reading, social studies, science and math.  Evening and daytime classes are $40 for the 10-week term, which begins the week of June 23.

Prior to starting class, students need to attend an orientation.  Orientations are scheduled for June 11, 16, 17, and 23 at the H. Woolley Center, 1634 W. Harvard, Roseburg.  To sign up for an orientation or for more information on the GED classes, please call 440-4603.

English as a Second Language
UCC offers English as a Second Language classes in Roseburg that focus on speaking, listening, writing and reading.  These classes cost $10 and begin the week of June 23.

Explore the practice and benefits of Qigong in 5-hour workshop
Qigong Workshop fee reduced
Umpqua Community College has lowered the class fee for a Qigong Workshop from $75 to $45 per class. The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the UCC campus, Physical Education Room 14.  Call 440-7744 to register and as for course number 14487.
Qigong is flowing movements combined with breathing techniques, visualization, and self massage.  Improve your health and increase your fitness level, enhancing all your life activities.  These gentle slow moving exercises practiced for centuries in China can help one achieve better health, sounder sleep, quicker recovery from stress or disease, more energy and a clearer mind.
