Bias Incident ▼
UCC is committed to fostering an inclusive campus community. Towards that effort, we want to provide definitions and examples to understand how UCC looks at these terms. The term bias refers to a cultural preference towards or against something or someone. Stronger biases can lead to prejudice, which is a “pre-judgement” that can lead to negative views towards a person or group of people. When people act upon bias or prejudicial attitudes, this behavior is called discrimination. If you feel like you or someone at UCC has been affected by bias, prejudice, or discrimination, you can consider contacting one of the following people to talk about options and resources:
- For situations involving students, please contact the Director for Student Engagement/Dean of Students – Marjan Coester; Student Center Building, 541-440-7749, or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- For situations involving employees, please contact the Compliance Officer – Mary Flaherty; 541-440-7763 (Oregon Relay TTY: 711), or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
