Students attending Umpqua Community College have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best places to visit and things to do that can provide wonderful experiences.

Roseburg

Roseburg is home to Umpqua Community College and has a population of about 21,000. It serves as a gateway to the Cascade Mountains and the Oregon Coast.

Roseburg features a number of parks. Two local favorites are Stewart Park and River Forks Park. Roseburg has a shopping mall and numerous shopping centers. Some of the major stores are Marshalls, Costco and Walmart. There are a variety of restaurants, including Red Robin, Applebee’s, McMenamins, Brix, and Abby’s Pizza. Mercy Hospital and many public and private clinics serve the area with an array of medical services.

Scenic Byways

Douglas County is blessed with the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway which runs through numerous waterfalls, campgrounds, lakes, and hiking trails. Some of the byway’s outstanding spots include Toketee Falls, Watson Falls, Deadline Falls, and Diamond Lake. The North Umpqua River runs along the Umpqua Scenic Byway and attracts hikers, campers, anglers, and rafters.

Heading towards the coast is the Umpqua River Scenic Byway which starts in Sutherlin and ends in Reedsport. Highlights of the byway include: Oakland Museum, Elkton, Scottsburg Park, Reedsport, Umpqua Discovery Center, and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

Trails & Cycling
