Career Opportunities
Students have gone on to complete their under-graduate work at prestigious art schools such as Savanna College of Art and Design, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and the California College of the Arts, as well as at state schools such as the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Southern Oregon University. Some students have gone on to complete Master of Fine Arts degrees.
Former students are self-employed as artists, or working in art-related careers. UCC art students have gone on to become architects, art therapists, museum employees, photographers, video game designers, and teachers. Some have stayed in Oregon, others have moved to areas as diverse as New York, Chicago, Santa Fe, and Reykjavik, Iceland.
The critical skills emphasized in the study of art translate into a wide range of professions. For instance, students can use a BFA or a degree in Art History as a springboard into advanced degrees in international relations or law. Art and Art History are great, broad-based liberal arts degrees that give students critical and creative thinking skills, and the ability to take risks and push themselves. Our students learn to be independent, self-directed workers and team players. A degree in art opens up exciting career opportunities, with annual starting salaries ranging from $43,320-$122,280.
