"As a first generation college student, I faced some barriers when transitioning to college from high school, and had to learn to overcome them by myself. I am originally from Indiana, and I wasn’t aware of TRIO programs until I moved to Oregon three years ago and started working in the education field in Douglas County. Looking back now, I wish Upward Bound would have existed in my high school that way I would’ve been better prepared for the transition from high school to college. I want to be the support to students that I wish I had back then, and now I can do that by working with Upward Bound."
