UCC is committed to collaboratively and systematically examining how effectively the College accomplishes its mission to transform lives and enrich communities. UCC’s ongoing, iterative institutional effectiveness model that aligns planning, resource allocation, and assessment is described in the UCC Institutional Effectiveness Plan and Guide and is depicted in this diagram:
Driven by UCC’s vision and mission, planning provides long and short-term direction to the College and includes establishing measurable outputs, outcomes, and associated indicators of success.
Resource allocation ensures that the College deploys its resources (people, money, space, technology, and equipment) to effectively achieve the College’s goals, priorities, and plans.
Assessment processes provide data that enable UCC to evaluate the progress made against the measurable indicators defined during planning. The results identify areas for improvement, inform planning and decision-making, and allow the College to close the loop in a cycle of continuous improvement. Assessment takes place in all areas of operation.
UCC identified thirteen institutional indicators to inform the campus and community of key metrics associated with fulfilling the College’s mission. The UCC 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is aligned with the institutional indicators.

The Mission Fulfillment and Institutional Effectiveness Annual Report, along with the Strategic Plan Annual Report, is part of the College’s on-going self-study process designed to inform strategic directions, guide tactical and operational planning, and inspire continuous improvement.
UCC is accredited by the Northwest Commission for Colleges and Universities NWCCU).
Throughout the seven-year accreditation cycle, UCC evaluates institutional effectiveness to demonstrate fulfillment of the College’s mission.
The IEC monitors the systematic implementation of processes according to the Institutional Effectiveness Plan, UCC needs, and NWCCU accreditation requirements.
Led by the Director of IE and home to Institutional Research, this division coordinates institutional effectiveness processes, manages institutional data, and oversees compliance with accreditation requirements.
