Umpqua Community College (UCC) officially launched construction of its new Welcome Center and Medical Careers Hub on August 14 with the demolition of the Del Blanchard Administration Building and a celebration ceremony. The $21.5 million project will serve as both a new front door to campus and a vital hub for healthcare workforce training in Douglas County. The facility is scheduled for completion in December 2026, with a grand opening in early 2027.

The annual FFA Shop Skills Competition brought students from Glide, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Oakland, South Umpqua, Elkton, Days Creek, and Douglas high schools to UCC. Students competed for scholarships and prizes.

More than 400 students from Douglas County schools gathered on April 24 for the Career & Technology Education (CTE) Career Fair Day. Students from Glendale, Days Creek, Camas Valley, Douglas, Dillard Alternate Education, Riddle, Elkton, Yoncalla, Oakland, Roseburg, Baker Academy, and Glide participated in the event, designed to introduce them to a wide range of career opportunities.
