ROSEBURG, Oregon – This is the first time in 15 months the College has been able to openly welcome students and prospective students to campus. They will now be able to register for classes, visit career and academic advisors, meet with financial aid advisors, use the campus library, and shop and pick up books and supplies at the campus store-all in-person. The College will still offer a variety of courses to meet all student needs. These courses include online, remote, and hybrid, in addition to traditional in-person classes.
While we will be open to serve students, which is our primary focus right now, we still need to work toward full-service capacity so we can also open the campus for venue bookings and community events, Dr. Rachel Pokrandt, UCC’s incoming president, said. We are working diligently toward doing so as soon as possible.
The campus will move toward a full opening and return to its more typical working conditions over the next few months. A decision has been made to maintain the pre-planned summer programming that was established earlier this year, which means the UCC pool will only be open for swimming lessons.
The UCC campus is widely used by the community for everything from camps and concerts to weddings and wine tasting. The College is working on a plan to bring back these options for community member enjoyment by Sept. 1. In the meantime, here is what campus visitors can expect:
- Face masks are required in indoor public spaces.
- Face masks are required in most public outdoor settings, including large outdoor events, where physical distancing is not possible.
- UCC strongly recommends vaccination for all campus populations.

This news release was updated on 09/08/2021 in response to the latest guidance from Governor Kate Brown and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) which states, Governor Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority leaders announced that indoor mask use will be mandatory starting Friday, August 13, in response to surging COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. – Read more.
