Roseburg, Ore., May 21, 2025—The annual FFA Shop Skills Competition brought students from Glide, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Oakland, South Umpqua, Elkton, Days Creek, and Douglas high schools to UCC. Students competed for scholarships and prizes. The day included skills in welding, woodworking, electrician, tool identification, surveying, and schematics drawing.

A group of UCC welding students mentored local area high school students on welding skills throughout the day. Some UCC student mentors are not only on track to graduate with UCC degrees and certificates in welding but are also already employed at local companies such as Bettendorf, Whit-log Trailers, Convey, and 7robotics.

Sponsors included Miller, Airgas, RFP, North River Boats, Great Northern, and Northstar.
