As an instructor in UCC’s Adult Basic Skills department, Nathan Anderson teaches English, reading, and basic literacy at the Wolf Creek Job Corps center in Glide. Wolf Creek provides mentorship for eligible young people in our region as they work to complete their high school education and train for meaningful careers.
UCC Forestry Student Alumni 3-Peat in OSU Award Recognition
ROSEBURG, Ore., July 1, 2022 — Umpqua Community College transfer student Justin Helgren, from Elkton, received the Oregon State University Forestry Program Harold Bowerman Leadership Award. This marks three years in a row that UCC students have been recognized in the OSU annual forestry award program. Last year, Ashley Backen was the Outstanding Forestry Student of the Year, preceded by Wade Christiansen in 2020.
UCC Hires Veteran Vinter to Oversee Winery, Southern Oregon Wine Institute
ROSEBURG, Ore., June 6, 2022 – Umpqua Community College is pleased to announce the hire of Joel Goodwillie as winery manager at the campus’ Southern Oregon Wine Institute. The position is responsible for managing activities and services at the college’s winery and overseeing its expanding Southern Oregon Wine Institute in support of the regional wine industry and partners.
