Implement active learning: through age appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities or curriculum within the established guidelines. Supervise/observe the children, classroom, and all activities, maintaining child/staff ratios within the licensing law requirements of Oregon. Makes sound judgment and transfers learning from one situation to another while embracing new approaches. Provides quality care and upholds the YMCA Core Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. With the ability to plan, organize, and implement age appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Experience with diverse populations and works effectively with people of different backgrounds. Builds rapport and relates well to others. Seeks first to understand the other person’s point of view, and remains calm in challenging situations. Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Individual takes an initiative to assist in developing others.

Be enrolled (and maintain enrollment) in the Oregon Dept. of Education’s Central Background Registry upon employment. Ability to meet minimum standards for a Child-care Teacher per state of Oregon regulations.

Needs Valid Oregon Driver’s License: Yes

Job Status: Part-time

Hours: M-F: 1pm-6pm

Wage: $16.00
