Art Gallery Presents Fiber Artist Exhibit

ROSEBURG, Oregon – A solo exhibit by fiber artist Claire B. Jones is showing in the Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College (UCC). The gallery is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Center on the main UCC campus.

Jones’ stitch-intensive work belies her background in computer engineering. Layers upon layers of delicate fibers combine to create forms that explore the limits of shapes and spaces. This exhibit is formed around the concept of perceived failure; Jones’ supplies an explanation for each piece, describing how she believes it fails her original concept. Her intent is to encourage viewers to think through and open up about their own ideas and experiences of failure.

A Perception of Failure runs through Thursday, Oct. 25, when there will be a closing reception for the artist from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and during special events.
