UCC Unveils {proof} at Centerstage Theatre

ROSEBURG, Oregon – The Theatre Arts Department at Umpqua Community College (UCC) is proud to present {proof} by David Auburn.

{proof} is the story of an enigmatic young woman, Catherine, her manipulative sister, their brilliant father, and an unexpected suitor. All four are pieces of the puzzle in the search for the truth behind a mysterious mathematical proof.

Catherine, who is played by Jesika Barnes, is the daughter of Robert, a recently deceased mathematical genius in his 50s and a professor at the University of Chicago. Catherine is also a mathematical genius and struggles with mental illness. Additional cast members include Hal, played by Andrew Laniohan, Claire, played by Cassandra Horton, and Robert, played by Harry Gandy.

{proof} opens this Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m., in Centerstage Theatre of the Whipple Fine Arts Building on the main UCC campus. Admission is $10 at the door; students are free.

Run dates for the show are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21, 22, 28, and 29; the show starts at 7:30 p.m. each night. A matinee showing will also be held on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. For more information, call (541) 440-4691.
