Granting Wishes to Better Serve Students

ROSEBURG, Oregon – Congratulations to the UCC Foundation’s Wishing Well Mini-Grant recipients. On Wednesday, Jan. 30, UCC’s version of a “prize patrol” worked in stealth-mode to surprise and grant wishes to four applicants.
Eight requests were received during the first application process. A total of $1,729 was awarded to the following:

  • $250 to the Business Department for Camtasia Video Creation Software. Applicant: Gary Gray
  • $500 to the Welding Department for a Grizzly router table. Applicant: Ian Fisher
  • $500 to The Mainstream for a camera lens. Applicant: Melinda Benton
  • $429 to UCCOnline for equipment and a subscription to Screencast-o-matic for online instructor use. Applicant: Jeanine Lum

The UCC Foundation established the Wishing Well Fund in September 2018 to provide mini-grants to faculty and staff for equipment or items to develop and implement unique ideas that are needed to better serve UCC students. The primary funding resource for this initiative is employee giving. A second application round is expected to take place later this year after the fund is replenished through UCC employee contributions.
