ROSEBURG, Oregon – On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Umpqua Community College (UCC) held a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing event to officially signify its transfer agreement with Oregon State University. The signing confirmed that OSU will seamlessly accept UCC graduates’ credits under the College’s existing Forestry program when pursuing a Renewable Materials degree in the following four areas:
- Advanced Wood Manufacturing
- Management & Marketing
- Science & Engineering
- Art & Design
“We are very excited to finalize this agreement and begin the process of recruiting and preparing students for this new transfer track degree,” Jarred Saralecos, UCC’s associate professor of Forestry, said.
“We sincerely appreciate the partnership that has developed between the OSU College of Forestry and UCC,” Clay Baumgartner, UCC’s Applied Science and Technology Department Chair, said. “We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration to expand opportunities for our students and to help provide the education for skilled workers in our community.”
The MOU will help students save time and money while pursuing a four-year degree. OSU’s College of Forestry is ranked #2 in the world and currently has 12 UCC graduates in its program.
