Student Selected as Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar

ROSEBURG, Oregon – Congratulations go out to Danielle Teichner. The Umpqua Community College (UCC) student been selected as a 2019 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar. Teichner will receive a $1,500 scholarship provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsor the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion.

With more than 2,000 applications received this year, the selection as a Coca-Cola Gold Scholar was based on scores the student earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” Jane Hale Hopkins, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, said. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa and make it possible for deserving students to achieve their educational goals.”

Teichner is currently working toward an associate degree in Paralegal Studies. Along with being a student, she also works as a legal assistant in a small local law firm. Her ultimate goal is to become an attorney.

Throughout the spring, 39 states host All-state Academic Team Recognition ceremonies where Coca-Cola Gold Scholars are recognized. Phi Theta Kappa will recognize the 2019 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars on stage at PTK Catalyst, Phi Theta Kappa’s Annual Convention, April 4-6 in Orlando, Florida.
