UCC Alum Unlocks Opportunities with Education

Josh, a UCC graduate and fresh addition to the Con-Vey team in Roseburg, explained his professional journey and how his CIS degree prepared him for his new position as an electrical engineer. “I actually went to UCC twice, first attended UCC in 2007 to acquire a digital systems technology degree that gave me several opportunities, one of which was working for Roseburg Forest Products.”

“During my time at RFP, I saw the inherent need for internal IT support. We didn’t have anyone. So, I returned to UCC to obtain a CIS degree to fill the IT administrative position with Roseburg Forest Products.” The CIS degree not only provided Josh with job security but helped differentiate him from other workers in the company. “My time at RFP was good,” he said, “The CIS degree and the IT role equipped me with advanced technical skills that were necessary in preparation for my position at Con-Vey. The CIS degree was the foundation. Without it, my life would probably be a lot different.”

Josh’s story not only shows us how a CIS degree can differentiate you in the workforce, but it also illustrates how this opens the door to opportunities not previously accessible by functioning as a stepping stone into an incredibly rewarding career.
