UCC Launches “Bridging the Gap” Business Conference

ROSEBURG, Oregon – The Umpqua Community College’s (UCC) Business Program, Community and Workforce Training, and the Small Business Development Center have united to create an all new business conference called Bridging the Gap: Recruit and Retain the Workers you Want. The conference was created with the goal to bring local employers and employees together to promote recruitment and retention.

Taking place on Friday, April 27, at 8:30 a.m., this inaugural conference will feature multiple workshops conducted by UCC faculty members. The workshops will cover subjects ranging from best practices in hiring top quality employees to money saving retention methods. Bridging the Gap will see a keynote address by Gabrial Fett, a recruiter for major companies including GoPro, Lyft, and Google. The event also includes a panel discussion with local businesses and workforce leaders.

The information provided at this conference will give people practical and proven ideas, and strategies to succeed in today’s competitive market, Dr. Alan Aylor, UCC Business Department Professor, said. People will learn this first-hand information directly from industry and academic experts.

The cost to attend is $75, and includes lunch. The price for students is $20. The event takes place at the Danny Lang Teaching, Learning, and Event Center, which is located on the main UCC campus.
