A Summer Day Camp to Inspire Future Entrepreneurs

The path to owning your own business starts with an idea! In the Dream It | Do It camp, up to 25 high school students will spend a week learning all about the concept of entrepreneurship and the path to get there. The overall mission of the camp is to inspire youth about the possibilities of entrepreneurship in Douglas County.
As a camp participant, you’ll engage with business professionals, coaches and advisers, work on fun group projects, gain skills, inspire one another, and come up with a business plan. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to pitch a business plan!
There is no fee to participate in the camp, though active engagement is critical to your success in the camp.

More About the Camp
The Dream It | Do It camp is open only to Douglas County, Oregon students having 11th or 12th grade status at the time of application.
We are looking for a diverse group of students having different ideas, interests and backgrounds in order to provide a dynamic and robust experience for all participants. No prior experience in business is required! Applications will be reviewed by staff of the UCC Small Business Development Center and camp leaders.
The five day camp will be hosted on the beautiful UCC campus and daily lunch and snacks will be provided. Participants will also receive course materials and camp memorabilia to keep. Laptops will be provided during the camp for certain activities. In order to create the most engaging experience for all participants, the use of personal cell phones or other communication devices is not permitted during camp sessions. Online Application
Applications for Dream It | Do It must be submitted online no later than Sunday, May 12. Notification of camp placement or waitlist status will be sent to applicants in mid May.
For applicants who have been accepted into the program, a separate Camp Participation Agreement must be signed in-person at the SBDC by the camp participant and their parent or legal guardian prior to the start of camp. (A sample copy of the Camp Participation Agreement is included below.)

Camp Staff
Isaiah Weiss
Isaiah is an innovator with a passion for numbers, science and startups. A serial entrepreneur with a focus on collaboration, Isaiah is passionate about using technology to make learning more effective and cooperative. He is co-owner of a technology firm focused on transforming educational experiences through the use of virtual reality. He graduated UC San Diego with a double major in International Business and Physics. In 2023, Isaiah led the UCC computer programming club to a win in the Invent Oregon Collegiate Challenge in addition to the team taking the prize for Best Community College.
Justin Deedon
Justin is a UCC alumni and computer science instructor who dedicates his entrepreneurial endeavors to bringing the full power of technology to Douglas County. He has worked on projects from data center development to low-cost IT support solutions for those in need. He continues his dedication to this cause by assisting SBDC clients in the areas of online marketing presence and system developments to demystify the difficult field of technology.
Diane Mahoney
Diane is owner and president of a national fruit and vegetable wash company. She served as an SBDC business advisor for over 17 years and led the intensive Small Business Management program for seven years. Diane holds degrees in business administration, education and hospitality management. She has particular expertise in the areas of business start-ups, expansion, acquisitions, operational planning and marketing.
Christopher Glenn
Christopher serves as the Director of the Umpqua SBDC. He has over 20 years experience in program development and management in addition to business ownership experience. He holds a masters degree from University of Oregon in higher education policy and management. Christopher’s extensive international experiences, including studying, working and living abroad, help foster his appreciation for working with people from widely different backgrounds and experiences. Christopher’s professional interests include constant process improvement, continuing education, policy making and business operations.
