History is the study of the rise and evolution of societies and civilizations. The term "history" comes from the Greek word for inquiry and is related to the English word, story.

Careers

A history degree can lead to jobs in the fields of education, museum work, historical preservation efforts, archival research, and scholarly publications. Many history majors also pursue post graduate careers in law, government, business, and in other related social sciences fields. The study of history greatly broadens one's perspective on and of understanding of human life within society and over time. Additionally, the analytical skills and communication abilities gained in the pursuit of a history degree are greatly valued in the above-mentioned career paths.
